Update #16 from Kirk- Last night in Peru

well, this is my last night in peru! its been a great experience, exactly what i needed. the workers have been great, ive had a good mix of being a tourist and seeing the real life in peru. its a totally different world down here and realize i got used to it. lima driving this time around doesnt even phase me. im used to using soles and hearing spanish, although it will be nice to sit around a table and be able to understand all conversations without a translator ha ha although it is always hard to say goodbye im ready to come home. i have a whole new appreciation for what the workers sacrifice and dont have a clue how they do it. so if you have been watching the blog, i hope you enjoyed it. it was a good journal for me to leave so i can always come back to it. its only been three months but my mind has recieved enough information for 3 years ha ha so im ready to get back to the states and get into a good groove. well, this is my last post, thanks for reading, thank you kylee!  adios, kirk

Update #16 From Kirk

Two days ago when we arrived in santa anna we took a taxi way up into the hills. We had 9 people in a little toyota car and we mobed up a treacherours muddy road. We really should have had a 4 wheel drive truck. But after about an hour we made it. There was just a little village and the family were had plans for lunch lived only a short distance from the village. But thier parents, who we planned to meet with as well, lived about 45 minutes away by walking. The just had a spot in the jungle with nothing but the needed things of life. We decided not to spend the night, a decision I think jason made for my sake because the sleeping situation was less than desirable, so we went back to santa anna that night. This morning we had a meeting at 6 in the morning so those who had to work could all make it. Then a study at 2. After the study we jumped a combie to oxopampa. It is settled by a lot of germans so I was surpriseed to see houses with windows and triangle roofs. Its a very nice city and I even found a garbage cans the have seperate bins for plastic. That is a first in peru. So oxopampa will be where I spend the next 4 days until I head back to lima. Well just thought I would send a update, my time here is almost up! Kirk

Kirk,I went through the last months pictures and I got so overwhelmed, so I just picked a few so you can see kiera!

Kiera got a new (from salvation Army) slide bed.  It has been the best toy ever......You will have to come slide on it!

If you get back from Peru and still want to join the circus, I can still make balloon animals.....I am a little rusty........

We had to drive clear over to Sweet home to go to the snow, as we have had straight sunshine here for over two months!

Yes I duck tape her gloves to her outfit, as that way she can't take them off to eat the snow.   She had a blast sledding!

And her nice daddy carried her back up the hill again.......

This was her pet snow ball, we had a fit when we could not take it home.  So we "Hid" the snowball under the tree and next year we will come back and get it!

The next generation of the new years party.............Sunday at Will and Shelley's House. Kiera loved this weekend.

And we always starve to dealth at the Sweet Home Residents....

Update #15 From Kirk

Hello America, ive been on the go here im peru. After spending a couple days in huancyo we left sunday night to huanoco. After a terrible busride we arrived at 430 in the morning and found a hostal to rest up in before starting the day. Then we went to visit a a really nice family. Its a single mom with three boys on a teachers salary which is a good gig in peru but they live in a apartment about the size of most peoples offices. The whole family in one room and I forgot to mention one of the sons is married. So its the mom, three boys, a wife of one of the boys and 2 grandkids. All in one tiny room. It was a very nice couple of visits. Tomorrow at 5 we have to head to where the taxis leave for the next town. That means we might leave right away, or we may have to wait for the car to fill you. The key word in peru is flexibility.
This morning we visited the temple of the crossed hands, its one of the oldest ruins in the americas. Supposeably its from 2000 years bc. It was very neat to see even tho its just a small archeologists site.

Pictures of Kiera.....

Kirk asked for some pictures of Kiera, so I looked back in my blog and realized that is wayyyy behind!  So I will get some posted soon..... We get to have workers all next week, and we are so looking forward to it!

We just had a very nice weekend with will and shelly and some other couples with kids!  This is the sunday picture.........23 kids! (one was not picture friendly at that moment).  and Shelly's 3/4 of a kid, a Girl!!    Meeting was so nice I think there were over 50 people and a lot of kids.......we sang at the end of meeting, "give me a heart"......  "....And stoops to help, a friend in need".  That has been on my mind so much this week.

(oopps, I forgot I left my camera at the funeral, I will have to post pictures when Sue brings it to me monday!) Maybe shelly will post it on her blog....she has my pictures...

We also had a trip to Klamath falls for Dougs grandpa Fred's funeral.  It was very nice also, and during the berial the military played the taps and presented the flag. That always gets me!

Update from Kirk #14

Just a short message here from huancayo. Jason and I left lima on tuesday and arrived in huancyo tuesday night. Its a large city and I think im just getting used to peru because I cant think of anything unusual about it ha ha had meeting tonight with the only 2 professing men in the area. We will stay here until sunday. Then go to another part of the field. Hope everyone is having a good january, kirk
